In 1999 Jonas still had his band ‘Midnight Sun’ but he found that he needed another band to release material that he had written in a different style and in another context. He asked top-vocalist Göran Edman (Malmsteen), drummer Jaime Salazar (Bad Habit) and axeman Marcus Jacobsen to join him. Some years later, this setting would lead to the formation of Karmakanic.
This album has got astonishing perfermances, good rock songs with strong melodies and first of all Reingold himself excelling on bass. On the inside of the CD cover Jonas added a note to the late Jaco Pastorius (Weather Report). In his teens Jonas got heavily influenced by Jaco and by the time Jonas decided to go and study music Jaco died at the of 36 in 1987.
The album is unique in terms of sheer musical diversity. There are AOR ballads, bluesy sentiments, crunching anthems, inspirational epics, Yngwie styled classical bits and basic pumping rockers. Göran Edman adjusts with ease to the shifting subject matter and adds an extra touch of class to every tune. His voice sounds glorious, mystical, lush, sincere and inviting. A must-have for every collection.
